About the Role
We are seeking a talented Applied AI Engineer to join our Engineering team and help shape the future of our AI-powered products. In this role, you will be at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge large language models into production systems, building intelligent features that deliver real value to our users. This is a fully remote position open to candidates across the United States.
As an Applied AI Engineer, you will work closely with product, engineering, and design teams to transform AI capabilities into seamless, production-ready features. You'll have the opportunity to architect sophisticated solutions using the latest LLM technologies while maintaining a focus on reliability, performance, and user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy LLM-powered features into production environments, ensuring scalability and reliability
- Architect and maintain Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines that enhance model outputs with relevant context and data
- Develop robust prompt engineering frameworks and best practices to optimize model performance and consistency
- Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to conceptualize and ship AI-native features that solve real user problems
- Monitor and optimize the performance of AI systems in production, implementing improvements based on user feedback and metrics
- Stay current with the rapidly evolving AI landscape and evaluate new technologies and approaches for potential integration
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing to elevate the team's AI capabilities
Required Qualifications
- 3-6 years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in Python with experience building production systems
- Hands-on experience working with LLM APIs such as OpenAI or Anthropic in production environments
- Demonstrated expertise in building and maintaining RAG pipelines for enhanced language model applications
- Proven skills in prompt engineering, including systematic approaches to prompt design, testing, and optimization
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver user-facing AI features
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a pragmatic approach to implementing AI solutions
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience with LangChain or similar LLM orchestration frameworks
- Familiarity with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, or Qdrant
- Knowledge of model fine-tuning techniques and experience adapting models for specific use cases
- Background in machine learning or natural language processing
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies
- Contributions to open-source AI projects or active participation in the AI community
